Professor, Kellogg School of Management

Professor Balachandran's teaching interests include managerial accounting, auditing, management information systems, and mathematical programming. He has authored more than 85 research articles and a book entitled “Business Process Reengineering: Its History, Promises, and Problems.” He is Department Editor in Accounting for Management Science, associate editor for The Accounting Review and on the editorial boards of Contemporary Accounting Research, and the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance.
Dr. Balachandran's research deals with performance evaluation, cost management, business analytics, and risk management. His most recent work is “Customer Centricity Culture and Customer Life Time Value” (Journal of Cost Management). His work has earned numerous scholastic honors, awards, and fellowships, and he serves as a consultant to senior management in industry, and the U.S. Air Force in the areas of accounting, forecasting, and strategic decision support systems. Based on his work in Literature and Education, the Government of India honored him with the highest civilian award “PADMA SHRI” given by the President of India in 2001. Balachandran sits on several boards in the U.S. and India, and is Chairman of the Board of Allsec Technologies Limited (NSE: ALLSEC) operating in both India and the U.S. with over 4,200 technical staff.
